How to connect Instagram

Connect an Instagram Business or Creator account to Orbin through a linked Facebook Page. Covers the requirements, the steps, and what to do if no Instagram account is found.

Last updated

To connect Instagram, your account must be an Instagram Business or Creator account that is linked to a Facebook Page you manage. Then open Social Accounts → Connect Account, click Connect next to Instagram, and log in with Facebook.

Orbin uses Instagram's official publishing API, which works through Facebook Login. That is why the Facebook Page link is required. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected.

Before you start

  • Your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account. You can switch in Instagram's settings.
  • That Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page. You make this link in Meta's own settings, not in Orbin.
  • You have a role on that Page, such as full control. See How to connect Facebook for details on Page roles.
  • In Orbin, you are a workspace Admin or Owner, and your plan has room for another account.

Steps

  1. Open Social Accounts in the sidebar and click Connect Account.
  2. Click Connect next to Instagram.
  3. Log in to Facebook if asked. On the permissions screen, leave every permission switched on and select the Pages whose Instagram accounts you want to use.
  4. Back in Orbin, you will see each Instagram account that is linked to a Page you shared, all selected. Untick any you do not want, then confirm.
  5. Each Instagram account appears in your accounts list.

Permissions Orbin requests

Orbin asks for permission to publish content to your Instagram account, read basic account information and insights for analytics, and read and reply to comments for AI comment replies. It also asks for the Facebook Page permissions that Instagram access depends on. If you decline some of them, the features that need them will not work.

Posting to Instagram from Orbin

  • Every Instagram post needs at least one image or video. Orbin tells you when you try to send a post without one.
  • Captions can be up to 2,200 characters, and Orbin shows a live count.
  • You can schedule Instagram posts like any other network. See How to schedule posts.

For network-specific details, see Schedule Instagram posts.

Troubleshooting

  • "No Instagram Business account is linked to your Pages." Link your Business or Creator account to a Facebook Page you manage, in Meta's settings, then connect again.
  • "Instagram access wasn't fully granted." On the Facebook login screen, keep Instagram and every Page permission enabled (choose Opt in to all), then reconnect.
  • The account shows an expired-access notice. Click Reconnect and approve the permissions again.
